Stop Netto - Save Todmorden

So Nettos want to come to Todmorden - but really its ASDA. They want to build a store stocking up to 10,000 different items.

What is being planned will not be like a small grocery supermarket, it will stock anything ASDA stocks now, and will therefore be a threat to every small shop and market stall in Todmorden.

Plus to achieve this they will demolish an iconic building that is part of the conservation area, our heritage and was in fact donated to the town - for a car park

On 11th of August your local town council said that  The building could not be restored - not true, it can, in fact it is stuffed full of deco features and could be brought back to use easily. Which in itself is testiment to the local men who built it so well They knew that a supermarket was a gamble in terms of the town's market and economy, but it was one they were willing to take. Good for them, its not thier jobs, businesses and livelihoods they are gambling with.

If you don't want to gamble Todmorden's economy, market and heritage away start objecting now.
